That You May Have Life

That You May Have Life

Series: The Gospel of John

Speaker: Tim Latham

Detail:

This is a basic home worship guide you can use to worship together in your home this Sunday. We encourage you to gather together with your family and any other neighbors or friends that might be in your home to worship with you. Choose a leader to lead the “Leader” portions. If you’re musical, feel free to sing, if not, you can just skip the singing parts!

Preparation for Worship

Leader: Alleluia! Christ is Risen!
People: He is Risen indeed! Alleluia!

Call to Worship

Leader: Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good;
People: His love endures forever.
Leader: In our anguish we cried to the Lord, and He answered by setting us free. Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good.
People: His love endures forever.
Leader: The Lord is our strength and our song; He has become our salvation. Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good;
People: His love endures forever.
Leader: We will not die but live, and will proclaim what the Lord has done. Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good;
People: His love endures forever.
Leader: The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; this is the day that the Lord has made,
People: Let us rejoice and be glad in it!

Prayers of Adoration

Spend a few minutes praising God. You could just invite people to say words out loud that characterize God and His care for us, or thank for who He is and what He has done for us.

Hymn | Christ the Lord is Risen Today

Prayer of Confession

Leader: Lord, bring new life where we are worn and tired; new love where we have turned hard-hearted; forgiveness when we feel hurt and where we have wounded; and the joy and freedom of your Holy Spirit where we are prisoners of ourselves

Time for Silent Confession

Assurance of Pardon | 1 Corinthians 15

Leader: Death is swallowed up in Victory; O Death, where is your victory?
People: O Death, where is your sting?
Leader: The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
People: But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Homily

Please listen to Tim’s sermon, That you may have Life:

Hymn | Because He Lives

Confession of Faith | The Apostles’ Creed

Leader: Christians, what do you believe?
People: I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there he shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Hymn | Love's Redeeming Work is Done

Commission

May the Lord bless you and keep you, may the Lord make His face shine upon you, and give you peace forever, Amen.
