Reopening July 12, 2020

Posted on

Dear Fairview family,

I am excited to be together with you in person on July 12! As we anticipate meeting in person, the Session has been hard at work thinking of how to make this as safe of a transition as possible for all of us. Please note slight changes to our worship service below, as well as how we can all participate in keeping our Fairview family safe and healthy. We’ll also have people in the foyer and upstairs to help if you forget any of the details or need help!

Preparation and worship

  • Our cleaning crew has a thorough plan to disinfect all common areas prior to the service
  • Extra masks, sanitizer, and wipes will be available in the foyer and sanctuary
  • Bulletins will be placed ahead of time in each pew
  • A pattern for socially distant seating will be on the screen as you walk into the sanctuary and an usher will be inside the sanctuary to help direct you to a seat
  • Your bulletins will already be in the pews with all the lyrics so you won’t need to use a hymnal
  • Offering plates will be in the back of the sanctuary as you enter
  • Instead of using pew pads, we’ll take a picture each morning for attendance and for contact tracing if someone gets sick
  • There won’t be any congregational singing at this time but we will have music in other forms

How you can help!

  • If possible, please try not to use the restroom while you are at the church
  • Please wear masks when you enter the building until you find your seat
  • While we encourage you to fellowship before or after the service, please do so outside while wearing your mask
  • Please do not use the parlor, Fellowship Hall, or Sunday School rooms at this time
  • If you use the elevator, please try to limit it to the minimal people needed per trip and take advantage of the sanitizer and wipes in the elevator

Please know that we are also working on the ability to livestream our service for anyone who doesn’t feel comfortable to attend in person. The Session and I strongly encourage you to stay home and take advantage of the livestream if you aren’t feeling well, have been in contact with someone who may have been exposed to Covid-19, or simply aren’t comfortable meeting in person. There will be more details on how to access the livestream service as July 12th gets closer.

While I know it will look different, I look forward to seeing each of you in person and worshiping alongside of you. If you have any questions or comments, please don’t hesitate to reach out to myself or a member of the Session.

-Tim
