Come Worship With Us!

Sunday, July 30th

Eighth Sunday After Pentecost

WORSHIP 10:30 A.M.

SERMON TEXT:   John 6:60-71

SERMON TITLE: "Does this offend you?"

We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps.

Proverbs 16:9 (NLT)

On Tuesday, July 25th, after successfully delivering all of his books to the Downingtown Historical Society (thank you Bill, Mike, Dan for your help), Mark very suddenly became quite ill and ended up in the ER at the Brandywine Hospital where he was given great care by all of the staff particularly his nurse, Susan. He is currently in critical condition in the ICU with acute pancreatitis.  Again, he is receiving excellent care and is expected to make a full recovery; although the path to recovery will be a long one. Benjamin and I, along with Rebekah and her family and Aaron and his family, are thankful for the love and concern and prayers that have surrounded us and encouraged us during these last few days.  This is certainly not how we planned for things to go; but the Lord is faithful and we know His purposes are right and good.  I will keep you updated as he progresses. And I will see you in worship on Sunday, the most important hour of our week.  In the name of Jesus and thankful for His saving grace, Lois Ann

Opportunities to Serve

DEACON'S SUNDAY!

The Deacon's Fund offering takes place on the fourth Sunday of every month.  However, you may give to this fund anytime.  Envelopes for this purpose are located in the pew rack.   These funds, as in the past, will be used to assist our family members  at Fairview who are in need of assistance.  This ranges from meals-on-wheels, personal and special needs as they arise.  Please consider giving to this important ministry to our church.

JUNIOR CHURCH VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR THE FALL

Junior Church will return in the Fall with the hope more volunteers will come forward to assist with teaching. Please let Valerie Petrie know if you have an interest in working with our children and those children visiting our church.   The lessons and materials are provided for you.  Thanks for another great year!!

GOOD WORKS WORK DAY

Our team is now supporting homes in Northern Chester County! Our normal workday is the first Saturday of the month.  Our next workday is August 5th.

Our current home is in Honey Brook. We are working out of the NCC Warehouse in St. Peter’s Village. Our workday begins at the St. Peter's warehouse at 8:00 and we complete our workday by 3 PM.

We would love to have you join our team. Many hands make light work. You only need to bring a willing heart. Tools and materials are provided. Women and teens are also welcome to join us.

The Team meets at 8 AM at the NCC Warehouse in St. Peters Village.

**We are always in need of lunch providers.  Simple lunches are fine. The lunch not only nourishes our workers but is part of our ministry and fellowship with the homeowners, sometimes even neighbors, and extras are left with the homeowner.  It is a great outreach opportunity and lunch providers are invited to stay to eat with us and share in the fellowship.  If interested, please contact Sue Obenschain at 610-286-5013.

For questions and/or further details contact: Roy Adler 610-416-5996 or Hob Pusey 610-506-8170

CANNED FOOD COLLECTION FOR THE SALVATION ARMY FOOD BANK

THIS IS AN ONGOING "SERVE" IN OUR DISCIPLESHIP PROCESS HERE AT FAIRVIEW. WORSHIP, CONNECT, KNOW AND SERVE.

Do you realize that there are 4 months until Thanksgiving? That is so important to remember because we need to keep supporting the food bank and keep our interests in their needs, in our minds, so when the number swells for families in need, during the holidays, we are tuned in to help.

The lazy days of summer are upon us, but if there are families that need food, and their tummies hurt, it’s hard to be lazy.

Please keep contributing to the food bank by placing your donations in the box downstairs.

Thank you from Val, Bobbie and Jo-Ellen

SERVING IN THE CHURCH NURSERY DURING WORSHIP

The new summer nursery schedule is available and we are in need of a few volunteers in the Church Nursery on Sunday mornings to help our Nursery Attendant, Nancy Finch with the children.
