Snow Day Home Worship
Detail:
Preparation for Worship
Leader: O God, you pour out the Spirit of grace and love, deliver us from cold hearts and wandering thoughts, that with steady minds and burning zeal we may worship you in spirit and truth. Amen.
Call to Worship | Revelation 15
Leader, Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty.
People: Just and true are your ways, King of the nations.
Leader: Who will not fear you, Lord, and bring glory to your name?
People: For you alone are Holy, all nations will come and worship before you.
Prayers of Adoration
Spend a few minutes praising God. You could just invite people to say words out loud that characterize God and His care for us, or thank for who He is and what He has done for us.
Hymn | Great is Thy Faithfulness
Prayer of Confession
Leader: Forgive us our sins, O Lord.
Forgive us the wins of our youth and the sins of our age, the sins of our soul and the sins of our body, our secret and our whispering sins, our presumptuous and our careless sins.
Forgive us the sins we have done to please ourselves, and the sins we have down to please others.
Forgive us the sins that we know, and the sins that we know not. Forgive them, O Lord; forgive them all because of your great goodness, through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.
Time for Silent Confession
Assurance of Pardon
Leader: As far as the East is from the West, so far has He removed our transgressions from us! This is the Promise of the Lord!
People: Thanks be to God!
Gloria Patri
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son:
and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be:
world without end, Amen, Amen.

Scripture | Matthew 16:24-26
Then Jesus told his disciples, “if anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?
Questions for discussion and reflection
1. As we’ve studied some of the commitments that we need to prioritize in our lives over the last few weeks – what changes do you feel are necessary in your life? What does it mean for you to deny yourself for the sake of Jesus?
2. Where do you feel God calling you to? It could be a specific need in your community, a relationship, a ministry at Church, an increase in reading Scripture, prayer, or something completely different.
3. How can Fairview as a group of believers called together by Christ better live out this mission? How can we take up the Cross in every aspect of who we are?
Praise | Jesus, I Come
Confession of Faith | The Apostles’ Creed
Leader: Christians, what do you believe?
People: I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there he shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
Praise | Good Good Father
