The Greatness of Jesus

The Greatness of Jesus

Series: Jesus is Greater | A Study in Hebrews

Speaker: Rev. Tim Latham

Detail:

This is a basic home worship guide you can use to worship together in your home this Sunday. We encourage you to gather together with your family and any other neighbors or friends that might be in your home to worship with you. Choose a leader to lead the “Leader” portions. If you’re musical, feel free to sing, if not, you can just skip the singing parts!

Preparation for Worship

Leader: Fill our worship with grace, Lord Jesus Christ, that every thought, word, and deed may be acceptable to you, our Rock and Redeemer, Amen.

Call to Worship | Psalm 47

Leader: Clap your hands, all you peoples; shout to God with loud songs of joy.
People: For the Lord, the Most High, is awesome, a great king over all the earth.
Leader: God has gone up with a shout, the Lord with the sound of a trumpet,
People: Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King; sing praises.

Prayers of Adoration

Spend a few minutes praising God. You could just invite people to say words out loud that characterize God and His care for us, or thank for who He is and what He has done for us.

Hymn | Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise

Prayer of Confession | 1 John 1

Leader: God’s Word tells us that if we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In humility and faith, let us confess our sin to God.

Time for Silent Confession

Assurance of Pardon

Leader: The Psalmist writes “Happy are those whose transgression is forgiven; whose sin is covered. Happy are those to whom the Lord imputes not iniquity, and in whose spirit, there is no deceit.” This is the Promise of the Lord!
People: Thanks be to God!

Offering

Please take a moment to reflect on God’s provision in our lives and consider donating online or through the mail.

Offertory - Linda Gyrath

Anthem | You are Good! (Israel Houghton)

Doxology

Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
Praise Him all creatures here below!
Praise Him above ye heavenly hosts!

Scripture | Hebrews 1:1-4

Homily

Hymn | Fairest Lord Jesus

Confession of Faith | The Apostles’ Creed

Leader: Christians, what do you believe?
People: I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there he shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Hymn | Cornerstone

Commission

May the Lord bless you and keep you, may the Lord make His face shine upon you, and give you peace forever, Amen.
